Check out the Cool short about Miami Based Alex Yanes First show in New York.
Over three April days in New York City, Duffy documented Miami artist Alex Yanes as he prepped and presented his artwork outside of south Florida for the first time.
During his inaugural trip to New York, Alex endured the anxiety and excitement of bringing his Miami-flavored pieces to the Mecca of the art world, only to then unwind into the serenity of achievement and the motivation to push harder and further. Director / DP: Duffy Higgins

Inyan He Witha (Dakota) Battle of the Greasy Grass (Little Big Horn)
history from Thipiziwin Young:
The circle of Lakota and Cheyenne warriors that surrounded Custer and his men on the hill top at the Battle of Greasy Grass is known as “the surround”, it is where Crazy Horse of the Oglala called for the warriors to put down their guns and raise up their clubs. Inyan He Witha, was a 28 year old Dakota woman, camped near the Hunkpapha Camp on June 25, 1876. She was from Minnesota territory and had made the decision to flee west after the wars on her people. She made the decision to stand her ground and fight with the men that day, she carried a club and took one life (The one red coup stick in her hand and the club she carried into battle are in the picture.) Frank Zahn of Standing Rock was recorded as remembering Rocky Butte with these words. “She rode on horseback with the men - she was “the only woman in the surround.” She was among Sitting Bull’s band after the battle and fled once again, this time into Canada. She returned to live out her days on Standing Rock, with the respect of a warrior, her club hung on the wall in her daughter’s log cabin.
